Overview

The Replit Agent is an AI-powered tool designed to assist users in building software projects. It is currently available through a limited early access program, allowing Core and Teams subscribers to explore its capabilities within fixed usage limits.

The agent aims to fulfill user requests to the best of its abilities, although occasional errors or unexpected behavior may occur as it is still an experimental product. Replit is actively working to improve the experience and values user feedback.

Capabilities

The Replit Agent can understand natural language prompts and help create applications from scratch, making software development more accessible to users of all skill levels. It is particularly effective in 0 to 1 prototyping for web-based applications.

Users are encouraged to provide detailed and descriptive prompts, similar to how they would describe a task for a teammate. The agent is recommended to select technologies to use rather than specifying specific languages or frameworks.

Accessing the Agent

To access the Replit Agent, users must be subscribed to Replit Core or Replit Teams. They can then log in to their Replit account, visit the home page, or select 'Create Repl' in the left navigation.

Once logged in, users can input a prompt describing what they would like the agent to build. The agent will generate a plan, which users can review and iterate on by editing or deleting steps as necessary.

Working with the Agent

Users should follow along with the agent’s progress, providing API keys, feedback, or direction as it builds the application. After the application is built, users can test it and ask follow-up questions if needed.

The final step is to deploy the application to production using Replit Deployments. The agent is currently only accessible in Repls created through the Replit Agent entry and does not support existing Repls or imported repositories.

Current Pricing

The Replit Agent is currently in early access and is included in existing Replit Core and Teams plans at no additional cost. Users have a fixed amount of usage per month, which is refreshed regularly.

Further pricing information will be provided later in 2024. If users hit their monthly quota and need it increased, they can request it by posting on X @replit with their username and intended use for the agent.

As an experimental product, the Replit Agent may encounter occasional errors or unexpected behavior. Users should be aware of this and provide feedback to help Replit improve the agent’s performance.

The agent is currently best at 0 to 1 prototyping for web-based applications, so users should tailor their prompts and expectations accordingly.
